The Perennial Plate has blessed us with a new video from India. The delivery men of Mumbai transport up to 200,000 home cooked meals a day. This is serious dedication, thoughtfulness and love for other human beings. I wish this happened more where I live.
Homemade Ranch Dip
Whole Foods- Ranch Dip
I love fresh raw vegetables and dip as a mid morning or afternoon snack. This ranch dip is a clean, whole food version of those processed packaged ranch dips that you can buy at the grocery store. Making this ranch dip yourself will give you comfort in knowing that it truly is healthy and beneficial for your body!
Gluten Free Cheddar Cheese Crackers
Whole Foods- Gluten Free Crackers
I came up with these Gluten Free Cheddar Cheese Crackers when my client that has celiac disease asked me to cater her Christmas party last year. I wanted one of my hors d'oeuvres to be a crispy round cracker that I could top with double smoked bacon, so this is what I came up with. May I say, they are delicious and actually easy to make. You can freeze the dough and then bake them in the oven for 8-10 minutes. They are a great little treat for when people just pop by!
Tomato Chili Jam
Whole Foods- Tomato Chili JamI have been looking for a delicious tomato chili jam recipe for a long time now. I have finally found one and just changed a couple of ingredients to give it a healthy touch! This savory jam is delicious with either my Gluten Free Cheddar Cheese Crackers, roasted chicken breasts or roasted wild salmon.
Add it to your favorite grill cheese next time and you will love me!

Shiitake and Baby Bok Choy Stir-Fry
Whole Foods- Shiitake and Bok Choy Stir-Fry
Here is a deliciously simple stir-fry that will get you started on the right path to healthier eating. This stir-fry is a great way to start introducing more whole foods into your life. It contains anti-inflammatory nutrients as well as antioxidants that can help fight cancer and keep your immune system strong. I like the baby bok choy becasue it's cute :)
Bragg and Red wine Vinegar Stir-Fry Sauce
Whole Foods- Healthy Stir-Fry Sauce
I am always looking for quick and easy sauces that will enhance the flavor of my food. It is so easy to go out and buy processed sauces in the grocery store but when you get them home and read the label you realize that they are filled with food colorings, MSG and other harmful additives that can harm your body.
Here is a simple, additive free, delicioso recipe that will hopefully get you started on the path to creating your own sauces from scratch instead of relying on store bought products.
I love this sauce over steamed vegetables, roasted fish and brown rice. It's always nice to have a couple of homemade sauces that can last in the fridge for a couple of weeks and can be used in more than one way.
Just Breathe
Sometimes it is important to take a moment to breath and just be. This picture reminds me to do that.
The Rouxbe crew and I are finishing up some amazing cooking courses that will be ready soon at Rouxbe Cooking School.
I will get back in the kitchen this weekend and be posting more delicious recipes soon. Stay tuned!
The Real Tofu
The Perennial Plate is this amazing website that features adventures in sustainable eating. I would love to do something like this one day and I will :) I am fully inspired by them and I hope you will be too.
When you have some time check out more of their wonderful 5 minute videos regarding all sorts of different topics on sustainable food and how other people live in the world.
If you know me, I rarely recommend tofu because it is highly processed, can disrupt our natural hormones, is usually genetically modified soy and the mono cropping soy industry is killing our land. This specific video shows the real process of how to make nutrient dense tofu. It's also about the passion that one girl has in keeping true to herself and her family to provide high quality, nutrient dense foods over quantity.

Fresh Mint and Vanilla Grape salad
I just made this delicious salad for a catering. It's simple and refreshing, just add a little vanilla and a little freshly chopped mint to red seedless grapes. Taste it, ask yourself if it needs more vanilla or mint and then serve it on little Chinese spoons. Voila!
What is GMO
This is a great video to help you understand what GMO is all about. We need to support the banning of more GMO crops in Canada. We are what we eat!
GreenPan
Costco has these awesome non stick ceramic coated pans that are PTFE free.
They are selling them for $38.00 for 2 pans. Great deal and great healthy alternative to the old school non stick Teflon pans. Worth the money? Yes!
